Bernsen bets on 'Lay The Favorite'

Corbin Bernsen has joined the indie comedy "Lay The Favorite" opposite Bruce Willis, Vince Vaughn and Rebecca Hall.Stephen Frears is directing "Favorite," based on the life of Beth Raymer, a Las Vegas cocktail waitress who rose to become one of the world's best gamblers. Bernsen will portray the father of Hall's character.Randall Emmett will produce through his Emmett/Furla Films shingle along with Anthony Bregman, D.V. DeVincentis and Paul Trijbits. Peter Gethers will exec produce.Bernsen recently completed a role in the comedy "The Big Year" directed by David Frankel for Fox. His Team Cherokee Prods. has set a premiere in Akron, Ohio, on July 9 for "25 Hill," directed and starring Bernsen, Nathan Gamble, Ralph Waite and Meg Foster; he's also completed starring and directing in Tean Cherokee's "Barlowe Mann" with Nathan Gamble, Bruce Davison and Dendrie Taylor.Bernsen continues to star on USA's "Psych," now in its sixth season.
