To become a high school teacher, one must have a Bachelor?s degree in the subject. Mine is in English. On peak of that, one must also complete the certification process. In my state, MANY of my undergrad hours were required education courses. Then I had to pass what is now called the PRAXIS (NTE back in the day) in both education and English. Certification processes vary by state, though. Some states require a fifth year spent entirely in education courses.
