Chanel released 2 limited edition bronzing powders in the Summer 2011 Collection ? Bronze Rose, and Bronze Corail.? Each of these retail for $50USD and are available at all Chanel counters/online. Both Sabrina from TheBeautylookBook and Amy from CafeMakeup have great posts on these here and here.
These weight 0.49 oz, a fair size for bronzers and blushes from Chanel. Each compact includes a mirror and a mini brush for application.? I would say the brushes are ok in the sense that they?re not particularly the softest, but not terribly scratchy either.
Similar to many compact products, Chanel always includes a black velvet pouch to protect the compact from dust.
I am particularly fond of this compact because the Chanel logo is in gold instead of the usual silver color. The slick black compact makes it very easy to pack along for travel.
First up is Bronze Rose, which contains 4 stripes of color ranging from soft brown, beige, dark bronze, and pink.? You can either use each of the stripes individually with a small brush or blend them all together.? These feel slightly powdery in the swatch but don?t show up that way on my cheeks. Although Chanel calls this a bronzing powder, I think of it more of a blush/light bronzer combination.
Close up of the colors in the pan.? There are light shimmers infused in each stripe.? It?s definitely not overly shimmery/glittery once applied in any sense.? More of a soft, subtle shimmer that Chanel excels at providing in their products.
Swatches by the window.? The mixture of the shades is barely noticeable on my arm but don?t be discouraged! It?s actually a pinky bronze that looks more like a blush than a bronzer. It?s quite soft and pretty on the cheeks.? I find that using a MAC 187 brush produces the best result. You can make the color more brown or pink by layering more colors from each selected stripe.
Bronze Corail also has 4 stripes of color but are darker compared to Bronze Rose.? It has medium brown, peachy beige, dark brown, and peachy pink shades.
Similar to Bronze Rose, this is more of a blush/bronzer and not so much just a bronzer. It also has soft shimmers infused in each stripe.? The hair in the picture is from the brush in the compact!
At first glance, Bronze Corail may look too dark or bold but it is actually not. Blended together, I get a peachy brown shade that provides a pop of color compared to Bronze Rose.

Chanel excels at the ability to provide products that are pigmented but subtle.? If you have light/medium skin tones, both of these bronzers will be beautiful on you.? If you have darker skin tones, Bronze Corail will be more noticeable on the skin compared to Bronze Rose. Regardless of which skin tone you have, you can?t go overboard with these bronzer powders.
Overall, I like both Bronze Corail and Bronze Rose.? This is a multi-purpose product that can be used as a blush, bronzer, highlighter, or even eyeshadow with each stripe.? They are slightly powdery to the touch but very soft.? There are slight shimmers that are noticeable only in direct sunlight.? The final finish on the cheeks is a subtle pink brown or pink/coral brown on my cheeks.? While using this, I thought of MAC?s Beauty Powders since the texture is somewhat similar.
Bottom Line: If you?re on a budget and have similar shades from other lines, I?d say you can safely skip.? Pick this up if you?re looking for a blush/bronzer combo that doesn?t make you look like Snookie. You certainly don?t need both.? Bronze Corail is recommended for dark skin tones.? Bronze Rose will work on both light/medium skin tones.
