Golf outing will benefit cancer patient

Jim Hlinka of Youngstown is battling colon and liver cancer. He is without medical insurance and expenses are accruing quickly.

A golf outing is set for Oct. 12 at Lakeside Golf Course, Lake Milton. All proceeds will benefit Hlinka, also known as King Louie.

The entry fee is $75 per person, which includes the greens fee, riding cart, breakfast with coffee and doughnuts at 8 a.m., lunch, dinner, beverages, skins, door prizes and shirt.

Tee box sponsorships cost $100.

The four-man scramble shotgun start will be at 9 a.m. Lunch will be served at the turn. All score cards must be turned in at scorer?s table at the golf course to be considered for any and all prize money and hole events.

Jungle rules will be observed with the ball being moved no more than a club length.

Prizes will include $300 for first place, $150 for second place and $75 for third place. Skin games are $20 per team. There also will be a 50-50 raffle and block pool.

Hole events will include par 5, longest drive at holes 1 and 15; par 3, closest to the pin on the green with the first shot at holes 3, 6 and 16; par 4, longest putt on the green at holes 9 and 18; and closest to the pin, second shot on the green at holes 5 and 17.

All registrations are due by Sept. 21.

For those who would like to attend the dinner only, the cost is $30 each, and there will be a basket auction.
