Moises Henriques over the moon with his performance ? Cricket News Update

Moises Henriques, the Sydney Sixers? all-rounder, is delighted with his match-winning performance against Chennai Super Kings in a Group B match of the Champions League T20 2012 and expressed that changing the pace of the ball was the key at the New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg.

After being put in to bat by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Sixers were going steadily up until the 14th over, when Henriques came into bat. The 25-year-old cricketer played out of his skin in the death overs, giving a much needed momentum to the innings, taking the score to 185.

The dashing all-rounder scored an unbeaten 49 off merely 23 balls, in which he struck five boundaries and three huge hits out of the park. The Portugal-born player proved his credentials with the ball as well, picking up three crucial scalps after giving away just 23 runs in his three overs.

Henriques was named as the Player of the Match for his astonishing performance in both departments of the game.

While expressing his views during the post-match presentation ceremony, the all-rounder was over the moon and said that batting was much easier with the old ball as compared to the first six overs of an innings.

The talented cricketer was all praise for his teammate Steven Smith, who took an important catch of the dangerous-looking Suresh Raina.

"Very happy to get the win. It was very important to change the pace. I certainly thought towards the end the ball was easier to hit,? said Henriques. ?They were right in it until the last couple of overs. Just shows how close this tournament is. Steve Smith is a great fielder. When Raina's shot went up, I was very happy to see him under it."

Sydney?s captain and wicketkeeper/batsman, Brad Haddin is also happy with his side?s comprehensive victory over the two-time champions but understands that the Sixers will have to play consistently well in order to go all the way in the illustrious competition.

?We are happy with the result, but it is important to get better with each game," the Test cricketer expressed.

Haddin?s men will play their second match tomorrow against Yorkshire at Cape Town.
