Wedding Gift Lists ? Choosing the service for you. | Home-Family ...

If you are planning to get married you may be considering putting together a wedding gift list of presents you would like to receive from your friends and family, but what options are there for you? We have put together this article to help you make the right decision for you.

You can let a big department store look after the wedding wish list on your behalf. Your guests can contact the shop directly and by quoting your present wish list reference number, guests can selects a gift from the Wish list that you compiled earlier. With this method you can arrange home delivery. This method will save you the hassle of transporting your gifts home and you can choose the delivery time that suits you, very handy if you are leaving for your honeymoon!

Some couples find that they have so much to organise that they choose a trusted friend or family member to take on some of the responsibility of running the list. The couple still put the list together, and send their list out in their wedding invitations; but include the phone number of the individual chosen to answer any questions and arrange delivery, etc. This role could be assigned to a sibling of the couple, or sometimes to the grooms mother as she may not be directly involved with the planning of the rest of the wedding. A guest can then call the person to ask any questions and to tell them what they are planning to buy who can then cross it off the list.

If you have enough time you could consider putting together a note book of required gifts and send it out to the wedding guests with one gift per page. All guests then select a gift, removes a page from the book and then passes the gift ideas book on to the next guest on the list. Apart from being quite a cute idea, this does admittedly take time, and can have many problems. If some people take a long time choosing their gifts, this will reduce the time other guests have to make their own minds up. One way to help things move along is to designate a motivated individual to keep a check on where the list is up to and keep reminding people to make their decision.

Although it used to be frowned on, many couples now simply choose to ask for either cash or gift Vouchers instead of a formal gift list. It is especially popular to ask for such donations towards a single, expensive itme such as the honeymoon or large pieces of furniture for the house. Rather than being vulgar they are actually a polite way to allow people to give as much or little as they want without feeling pressured to buy any single large and expensive item on a list. Similarly, if you are short on time, or inspiration, or don?t particularly want ot ask for lots of little things, this can be ideal. This is especially true for couples who have perhaps lived together for a number of years already and have all the day to day items you would traditionally ask for.

The best way is to use a wedding gift list website; the main benefits of using an online gift list website is that you?re not tied to only being able to include items from one retailer as you might be with more conventional methods. All you have to do is install a smart little toolbar Widget and you can easily add gifts from various internet retail merchants. When you?ve added the items on your Wish list you simply ask your family and friends to visit the website and view your Wish list. You can email the list to guests or you could include the website login details with a postal invitation. The website will keep a record of what?s been purchased so that you will not finish up with the same items, and everybody will know that they?re buying an item that you need.

Whichever route you take with your wedding list, it is equally important to remember to provide as much information as possible about the items in question to help your guests buy accurately. Each item should have at least: name, store you have seen it, brand, price, model number, colour, size, and quantity. To be fair to your guests who will want to buy you something, always make sure your list has items from a wide range of price brackets. This allows your guests to spend what they can afford, not what they feel they are obliged to. Once the wedding presents have been bought, please remember to send out thank you cards to show how much you appreciated the generosity your friends and family have shown.
