High school in Florida shows off bizarre uniforms

The University of Oregon football program has nothing on these guys.

Atlantic High School in Delray Beach, Fla., decided to take a unique approach to its football uniforms, something Oregon has done many times in the past. A photo posted on Twitter by UniWatch says it all.

The player in the picture is wearing a uniform with most of the school colors?a dark green resembling the Philadelphia Eagles (Atlantic's mascot is an eagle). But it's the rest of the uniform you have to see.

The player is decked out in an almost neon fluorescent green on the left third of the uniform. Even his left shoe and sock are neon green.

According Matt Porter of The Palm Beach Post, the uniforms were donated by Delray 21, The Related Group and Ocean Properties, companies in Delray Beach. They were designed by Ryan Boylston of Futuristic Woo, also located in Delray Beach.

?We definitely don?t expect these to be loved by everybody,? Lee Cohen, a Delray attorney and Delray Beach 21?s chairman, told the website. "That?s what they should do. Spark conversation.

"We want to bring these kids the attention they deserve. We want to draw attention and bring excitement to the program. We want to get people talking.?

Numerous websites have already chimed in with their opinions on the uniforms. SBNation.com called them the "ugliest uniform ever" while Deadspin.com wrote: "A Florida high school hopes to confuse opponents by blinding them with their uniforms."

The blog also reports that this isn't the only high school in the district to make such a bold statement. Dwyer High School, in Palm Beach County, will wear pink uniforms for home games on Oct. 12 and 18 and/or in a road game on Oct. 26.

Dwyer, ranked 42nd in the nation by Rivals.com, is taking such a bold step with its uniforms to recognize National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is in October.

And, to top it all off, Atlantic will be Dwyer's opponent on Oct. 18.
